Capitol Masking Policy
On Monday, congressional leadership retired their workplace masking policies, making masks optional throughout the Capitol complex. The decision comes on the heels of CDC’s overhaul late last week of its Covid-19 guidelines. Per attending physician Monahan, “positive results at the Capitol’s testing center are down to 2.7 percent, lower than the surrounding DMV area.” Speaker Pelosi controls masking rules on the House floor, but she’s largely deferred to Monahan’s recommendations. The Senate never adopted mask mandates, citing high vaccination rates, though individual offices set their own policies.
