ASA Attorneys’ Council SUBExcel Meeting Wrap Up

We were happy to welcome a group of about 20 of our Attorneys’ Council members from law firms and ASA chapters across the country to meet as part of SUBExcel 2024 in New Orleans. Our dedicated Council members give of their time and expertise hours to participate in these meetings twice annually and we are grateful for their contributions to the betterment of the Association with each one! This year, Council Chair Chip Bachara and long-standing member Lee Brumitt were invited to participate in an educational panel on subcontractor payment issues during one of our open SUBExcel sessions. We were pleased to roll out our 2024 updates to two critical ASA resource documents at the conference: ASA Prompt Payment Laws in 50 States and Lien and Bond Claims in 50 States: 2024. Attorneys from participating states along with ASA Counsel from Kegler Brown spent many months reviewing and updating the statutes and information in these documents, so please make use of them when you are in need! Both of these may be found on our InfoHub when you log into your ASA portal online.

Also discussed at our meetings were efforts to integrate the relationship more seamlessly between Council members and Subcontractor members at ASA. The Council will continue to pursue educational opportunities that more closely align with your interests and endeavor to be more of a presence with our membership whenever possible.
