This Week in Congress
The congressional summer schedule is upon us with the House and Senate each slated to be in session just three of the next six weeks. The Senate voted on in vitro fertilization legislation and the House voted to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt. Additionally, the House voted on the typically bipartisan National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which will likely be finalized after the election. Last week, the House Armed Services Committee approved the legislation in a 57-1 vote after most major cultural flashpoints were left aside. The NDAA authorizes funding for the Department of Defense (DoD) and often serves as a legislative vehicle for the procurement of military construction.
