Status Update on the FY25 NDAA (Defense Act)

The Senate delayed work on its version of the defense authorization bill until at least September. Republicans and Democrats blamed each other for the impasse, which spells an uncertain future for the must-pass defense policy bill. Several GOP senators took to the floor to attack Majority Leader Schumer for not bringing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (S 4638) up for a vote. Schumer said negotiations will be difficult because the competing House bill (HR 8070) has "huge numbers of poison pills" pushed by conservatives, but he pledged to pass the bill by year's end.

The NDAA contains important and timely construction procurement policies important to our membership.
