Congress Remains in Recess Until September 9th!
Once Congress returns on September 9th, it will have a three-week sprint to face key legislative deadlines before departing again for campaign season, but political pressure and considerations could complicate the path to addressing those must-pass items. The election could make the chances of a government shutdown less likely; however, leaders in both chambers have their work cut out for them amid deep divides on spending.
Election Day is nine weeks away and absentee ballots will start getting mailed out in North Carolina this Friday with early voting starting in Pennsylvania on September 16th. The first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris is next Tuesday, September 10th.
