2024 Election Update!
Republicans have won the White House and control of the Senate. The House majority has not yet been determined and called races have resulted in Republican wins in 214 districts, and Democratic wins in 203 districts, with 18 races yet to be decided. Republicans are favored to win a narrow majority in the chamber. The results of those contests may not be known until shortly before respective state election certification deadlines, which extend into the first couple weeks of December. Between today and January 6, 2025, when Congress will convene in a joint session to certify Donald Trump as the next President, the states must finish counting votes, conduct any necessary recounts, and certify election results. State electors will meet on December 17th to officially cast votes for President and Vice President. To date, in the Senate, Republicans have won 53 seats, and the Arizona race has not yet been called, but Democrat Ruben Gallego is leading Republican Kari Lake by 2.2%, with 91.9% of votes counted.
