This Week in Congress
This week both chambers of Congress were in session with the House voting on the HALT Fentanyl Act (H.R. 27), which would amend the Controlled Substances Act to permanently list the drug as a Schedule I controlled substance, and the Protecting American Energy Production Act (H.R. 26), to prohibit a moratorium on fracking. The chamber also voted on legislation relating to Tribal land and a bill requiring the Agriculture Secretary to evaluate the use of certain aerial firefighting systems. The Senate held confirmation votes on Christopher Wright to be Secretary of Energy, Doug Collins to be the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Russell Vought to be the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, Pam Bondi to be Attorney General, and Eric Turner to be the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
