ASA Supports Sen. Risch (R-ID)’s Simplifying Subcontracting Act

ASA supports the reintroduction of the Simplifying Subcontracting Act, a bill designed to reduce complexity in federal government contracting to assist more small businesses and entrepreneurs in pursuing contracts. Last year, Senators Crapo (R-ID), Hickenlooper (D-CO), Budd (R-NC), Kennedy (R-LA), and Rubio (R-FL) joined Senator Risch in introducing the bill. According to Senator Risch, small businesses face challenges in federal government subcontracting due to overly complicated language. The proposed legislation aims to address this issue by requiring the federal government to communicate in plain language, thereby enabling more small businesses to compete for these contracts. The Simplifying Subcontracting Act is a straightforward, one-page bill that mandates the use of simple terms in federal subcontracting work with small businesses. This legislation reflects the principles of the Plain Writing Act of 2010
