ASA Board of Directors (2024-2025)

Ray Moya

President - Ray Moya - Prime Electric, Inc., Albuquerque, NM

Ray Moya currently serves ASA Predsident.  He has previously served as Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer for ASA.  He has been an equal owner in Prime Electric, since its inception in 1998.  Prior to that Ray worked as a Project Manager and Estimator for Hughes Electric and Modern Electric from 1980 thru 1998.  Having worked for three successful electrical contractors for his entire career (since 1980) has given Ray a vast array of experiences and duties from both an employer’s perspective as well as that of a business owner. Ray attended the University of New Mexico with a major in Architecture and Planning.  Ray has been a member of ASA since 2000, served on the Board of Directors for ASA New Mexico for 6 years, was Secretary, Vice President and President for the local chapter. In 2017 Ray accepted a position to serve on the ASA National Board of Directors.

Vice President - Andrew Christ - Compass Constructors, Parkville, MO

Andrew Christ is currently serving as the Vice President for ASA. He previously service as Secretary/Treasurer. Mr. Christ graduated from Kansas State University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science and Management.  Before joining Compass Constructors, he worked for a large general contractor and helped deliver over $450 million in various projects throughout the United States.  Mr. Christ has been involved in the commercial construction industry since 2004 and became an ICC Accredited Commercial Building Inspector in 2010.  Mr. Christ currently serves as Vice President for the ASA of Greater Kansas City.

Secretary/Treasurer - Tony Vermaas - Sobie Company, Caledonia, MI

Tony Vermaas has been President/CEO and CFO for the Sobie Company since January 1, 2016, serving as CFO in the six months prior to taking over ownership from Austhof family. He has served on the West Michigan chapter of ASA since July 2016 serving as President from July 2018-June 2019. He is also a current board member of the ABC West Michigan chapter and has served in that capacity since January of 2017. Prior to his various roles with Sobie Company, Mr. Vermaas spent fifteen years running a number of service based national and international marketing and advertising firms.

Marni Goodrich - Yearout Mechanical,

Marni Goodrich is the Business Manager for Yearout Mechanical, LLC. She has 22 years’ experience working in the construction industry in New Mexico. Marni attended the University of New Mexico with a major in Biology and Psychology, but once she discovered construction management she was hooked. Ms. Goodrich served on the Board of Directors for ASA New Mexico for 10 years and served two terms as President for the local chapter.

Immediate Past President - Brad Miller - Midwest Crane & Rigging, Olathe, KS

Stephen Bradley Miller is currently serving as ASA Immediate Past President.  He has previously served as the ASA President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer.  He comes to us from Midwest Crane & Rigging in Olathe, KS.  In 1977 Brad’s father, William, started a precast erection company called Building Erection Services. This company would grow and diversify into other areas of the construction industry. Brad starting working for his father during the summers and all holidays from 1984 to 1990 and upon graduation joined his father's company.  Brad joined the Operating Engineers in 1993. In 1998 Brad moved into a managerial role in St. Joseph, Missouri. In December of 2001 Brad transferred to Corporate headquarters in charge of the crane rental division.  Brad took over his father's position in local Chapter of ASA in 2005 and remains on the Advocacy Committee.

James Bockheim - Alternative Mechanical, Kentwood, MI

James Bockheim is the acting ASA Michigan Chapter President and a Director at Alternative Mechanical, a Michigan base HVAC and Plumbing Company. James was raised in a Construction focused family and has been privileged serve the HVAC, Plumbing, and Construction Industry for over 20 years. Zealous and energetic, James loves interacting with the Alternative Mechanical Team, supporting customers, and allocating time to servant leadership! James and his Wife Catherine are passionate about coaching their Daughter and Son in a variety of sports and enjoy spending time as a family engaged in outdoor activities or on the water.

Jennifer R. Church- United Rentals, Inc. St. Louis, MO

Jennifer has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, as a Strategic Account Manager, with the largest rental equipment company in the world, United Rentals, Inc.

Jennifer was President of the St. Louis / Midwest Council Chapter from 2019-2020 and has served on their Board for many years. She founded the ASA Women’s Council – She’s Built for This! Jennifer has been the Chairman of the Midwest Council Golf Tournament for many years as well.

Jennifer is a published author.  The book is a collaboration with other women and is a best-seller both in the United States and Internationally.

Jennifer lives in the St. Louis area and has one daughter, Morgan. She enjoys spending time with her family, playing golf and boating.

Thomas Freund - Freund Enterprises, Inc, San Antonio, TX

Thomas Freund represents the second generation at Freund Enterprises, Inc., a family-owned business in San Antonio, Texas established since 1964. Freund Enterprises, Inc. provides services in both the HVAC (Comfort-Air Engineering Inc.) and plumbing divisions (Primo Plumbing Inc.) for the construction and service markets. He is one of the five original (one cousin has since passed) “GEN II” to take over from their “founding” fathers. Tom began his career in 1993 after graduating from The University of Texas in Austin and has managed both the sales and operations position for all aspects of the organization.

Tom has been an active participant in the local ASA chapter and has served as a past president of the local chapter. Tom and his wife of 28 years have three sons and continue enjoy the many relationships that the industry has afforded them. Especially those relationships that have developed over time with the direct involvement of ASA San Antonio.

Ron LaRicci - Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd., Houston, TX

Ron LaRicci is currently the President of Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. and has worked in the
construction industry for over 40 years.  Ron's experience includes the execution of many high-
profile projects, along with the oversight of office and field delivery personnel and client development in multiple states.  He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction from Louisiana State University and has been involved in various committees with the Houston Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association as well as serving as a Board Member beginning in 2009, as Secretary/Treasurer from 2013 to 2015, Vice President from 2015 to 2017 and as President from 2017 to 2019.

Ron lives in Sugar Land, TX, a suburb of Houston and has four grown children. He enjoys spending time with family and playing golf.

Drew Lewis - F.L Crane & Sons, Florence, MS

Drew is an Estimator/Project Manager for FL Crane & Sons.  Drew has over 13 years of experience working in the construction industry working for a general contractor and FL Crane.  He graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building Construction Sciences.  Drew has served since 2017 on the Mississippi Chapter board and the executive committee.

Kenneth Moore - KCM Cabinets, San Antonio, TX

Kenneth Moore was born in September of 1960 in San Antonio, Texas.  He graduated from Southside H.S. in 1978.  Kenneth spent a short time going to college but quickly decided that it was not for him and went to work.  He worked for numerous cabinet and millwork companies in the San Antonio area before deciding to start his own casework and millwork shop in 1998.  Since then KCM Cabinets has grown to serve Texas and even some surrounding states.  A loving father and husband to wife, Beth Moore, two kids, Andrea Hannasch and Brad Moore, one step daughter, Tiffany Canada, and two step-grandsons, Hunter and Layne Canada.  When not working to grow his business Kenneth will most likely be found on the golf course, hunting, or at his property along the Texas coast fishing.

Jeremy Pearce - Title Concrete Company Oklahoma City, OK

Jeremy Pearce has over 20 years experience in commercial/industrial concrete and is the managing partner for Oklahoma based Title Concrete Company.  Jeremy has served on the board of directors for ASA Oklahoma as well as serving on workforce development, membership and activities committees.  He was Vice President in 2017-18 and President for the 2018-19 term before returning to the board in 2021.

Val Perales

Val Perales - Bazan Painting Company, St. Louis, MO

Mr. Val Perales is currently Vice President of Commercial Painting at Bazan Painting Company in St. Louis, MO.  He started with Bazan in 1995 while pursuing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri - St. Louis.  Val served as President of ASA Midwest Council (2018-2019) and currently sits on multiple committees of his local chapter.

Martin Press

Martin Press - Press Mechanical Contractors, Manassa, VA

Martin Press is currently serving as an executive board member of ASA Metro Washington and currently serves as treasurer. Martin is the founder and president of Press Mechanical Contractors, Inc. in Manassas, VA. He is a 4th generation contractor in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. He comes to us with 35 years of subcontracting background experience. Martin previously served on the board of directors for Associated Builders and Contractors of Metro Washington (ABCMW). In that time, he helped develop a student chapter organization and scholarship program. Martin is experienced in mentorship and construction consulting, including expert and fact witness in subcontractor litigation, arbitration, and mediation. Martin obtained the Construction Quality Control Manager certification (CQCM) in 2018.

John Reynal - Encore Mechanical, LLC, Southlake, TX

John is the Founder and President of Encore Mechanical, LLC, based in Southlake, TX. Encore is a mechanical contracting and service company that has built its market leading reputation for installing Variable Refrigerant Flow HVAC systems and earned spots in both the Gator100 and the Aggie100 which recognizes the fastest growing 100 companies in the world that are owned by graduates of the University of Florida and Texas A&M University. John currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Construction Education Foundation of North Texas, an ASA sponsored organization that provides craft training for the North Texas construction community. John also serves on the Board of Associated Industries of Texas (AITX) which is committed to promoting and producing a new generation of skilled trades professionals. John graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Economics, and Texas A&M University with a Master of Science in Construction Management. John is married to Beverly Reynal, Executive Director of American Subcontractors Association North Texas Chapter and they enjoy visiting their two girls, Katherine and Caroline who are both attending Texas A&M University.

Rico Rivera

Rico Rivera - Alpha Power Group, LLC, Orlando FL

Rico Rivera is one of the founders and CEO of Alpha Power Group LLC, a Minority and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned specialty electrical contractor that is based out of Florida, with regional offices around the United States. Rico is a Sergeant of the United States Marine Corps. He served for 8 years were he deployed around the globe including combat oversees.  Upon leaving the Marine Corps, Rico studied at Purdue University, and at the same time became a journeyman electrician. Rico has worked in multiple high level leadership roles across the United States, helping oversee nearly a billion dollars in construction work over a 24 year career. While not working Rico enjoys spending time with his wife Rosy and their three daughters, and is a lifelong Chicago sports fan.

Dick Roberts - DTR Landscape Development, Phoenix AZ

Dick Roberts is the founder and president of DTR Landscape Development in Phoenix, Arizona for 43 years. He has been a leader in improving education, safety, and women’s participation in the construction industry. He helped to establish the ASA University in the Arizona Chapter of ASA to benefit all subcontractors throughout the state and was the director of the local chapter for the previous two years.

Bryan Tompkins

Bryan Tompkins - Bomac Electric, Inc., Clinton, MS 

Bryan has been President of Bomac Electric, Inc. since 2003.  Prior to that he worked for Tompkins Electric for 13 years as Vice President and Project Manager. Bryan has served on the board for the Mississippi Chapter of ASA for over 20 years and has served as President twice.  In 2000 he served for a short time on the ASA National Board with the Legislative Committee.

Chip Bachara - Bachara Construction Law Group, Jacksonville, FL 

Chip is a Florida Bar Board-Certified Construction Lawyer with deep roots in the construction industry, starting as a laborer in his father's company at age 13. Armed with a degree in Building Construction and experience as a licensed general contractor, he transitioned to law, founding the Bachara Construction Law Group in 2007. Recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, and other prestigious organizations, Chip has served as first-chair counsel in numerous trials and arbitrations throughout Florida. His firm represents a wide range of clients in all aspects of construction law, from contract negotiations to litigation. Chip's extensive construction knowledge and legal expertise have earned him multiple accolades, including being named Jacksonville's Lawyer of the Year for Construction Law multiple times. He currently serves as Chair of the ASA Attorneys Council for the second consecutive year.

Think Tank

The ASA Think Tank committee is open to all members and meets twice per year to discuss pertinent industry issues and Association business. Besides the superior networking opportunity for business leaders to connect, the Think Tank helps guide the direction of ASA the education/awareness that is brought to the membership. Conversations from the Think Tank can be brought to ASA’s Board of Directors to take action on, commission research on, educate around, etc.  This is your chance to participate in a peer-to-peer forum with fellow ASA members and leaders.

ASA Task Force on Ethics in the Construction Industry

The Ethics Task Force is a group of individuals dedicated to promoting and selecting industry award recipients.  The Ethics Task Force insures that award applicants and nominees meet award specific requirements and select each award recipient based on those requirements.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee shall be responsible for identifying and evaluating prospective candidates for the Board of Directors and other leadership positions. This process will include nominating at least one eligible candidate for each pending vacancy on the Board of Directors for the following fiscal year as well as compiling a list of candidates that have been nominated by petition of at least 2.5% of regular members.  The committee is responsible for assuring that candidates nominated by petition meet eligibility requirements. Additional tasks include preparing a report, including the slate of candidates, for the Secretary to submit with a ballot to the membership no fewer than 45 days prior to the Annual Meeting, identifying and recommending candidates for vacancies in directors and officers to the President, evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the Board of Directors and making recommendations for improvement, and developing and recommending a program for Board development.

There shall be an Executive Directors’ Council, members of which shall be designated by each chapter, chapter-in-formation and state organization. The Council shall designate one of its members as chair. The Council shall provide recommendations in writing to the Board of Directors as appropriate.

Bylaws Committee

The President shall appoint at least five regular members to a Bylaws Committee, which will work to prepare and submit an annual report to the membership. This report should include any bylaws amendment proposed by petition of at least two point five percent (2.5%) of regular members and include its own recommendation on such proposed amendment. The committee report shall be submitted to the Secretary to distribute to the membership with a ballot no fewer than forty-five days prior to the Annual Meeting.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring the financial affairs and assuring the financial integrity of the Association. This committee is responsible for preparing an annual operating budget and a capital budget for approval by the Board of Directors. These tasks include reviewing and recommending financial policies, as well as recommending to the Board a certified public accountant to annually audit the financial documents of the Association.  This committee will monito significant controls and corrections of reportable conditions and assure that the financial responsibilities delegated to management have been appropriately discharged. The Finance Committee is responsible for recommending to the Board of Directors any other actions necessary to assure the financial integrity of the Association.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee shall consist of the elected officers of the Association, the Immediate Past President, and two directors selected annually by the officers. The chair of the Executive Directors’ Council shall serve as an ex officio, non-voting member of the Executive Committee. It shall be responsible for the coordination and management of the affairs of the Association between meetings of the Board of Directors. The actions of the Executive Committee shall at all times be consistent with the budget, programs and policies of the Association and are subject to review and approval by the Board.

The ASA Attorneys’ Council is compromised of legal counsel representing chartered chapters, state organizations, ASA general counsel and other ASA member attorneys in good standing from across the country. Our Attorneys’ Council provides networking and educational opportunities for legal contemporaries from every region, meeting several times throughout the year both in person and remotely. They are also a crucial resource for the American Subcontractors Association, providing cooperative assistance in the development of programs, procurement of speakers, and other matters of interest to the Association. We are always looking for new faces and fresh perspectives to join in our efforts on behalf of the subcontractor community, so please reach out today with interest in participation on the Council!
