Biden Administration Rescinds IRAPs
On Friday, July 23, 2021, the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs sent the U.S. Labor Department’s proposed rule to cancel industry-recognized apprenticeship programs (IRAPs). Review by the White House’s regulatory office is traditionally the final step before rules are cleared for public release. President Biden ordered the department in February to discontinue the IRAP system and the Biden administration will focus on bolstering the Labor Department’s traditional registered apprenticeship model.
