This Week in Congress
This week, the House and Senate worked on budget issues before they begin their two-week 4th of July recess.
Speaker McCarthy will continue to quell his conservative members as he begins to outline a working agreement with the group to forge ahead with must-pass bills such as the farm bill, appropriations, and an annual defense authorization later this year. On Tuesday, the Senate voted on judicial and administrative nominations and the Senate Armed Services Committee held committee meetings on the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Last week’s fly-in was an outstanding opportunity to promote ASA’s legislative priorities with a total of 47 congressional meetings. We emphasized policy issues on workforce development, change order reform, resilient construction, and demonstrating our role in building our country’s infrastructure. The reception in the meetings was very positive and I will follow up with the congressional staff and the members of Congress over the next few weeks. Thank you to all our ASA fly-in attendees.
