This Week in Congress

Congress is in recess this week and we’ll return on Monday, March 24th. When the Senate returns next week, the chamber will consider nomination votes for John Phelan to be secretary of the Navy, Michael Kratsios to be director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, Jay Bhattacharya to be director of National Institutes of Health, and Marty Makary to head the Food and Drug Administration, among others perhaps even Rep. Stefanik (R-NY) as ambassador to the U.N. She’s the only Cabinet-level nominee yet to be confirmed. As for the House, Speaker Johnson wants to put the reconciliation bill on the floor before Easter. The chamber leaves for its Easter recess on April 10th.
